300 nest boxes to protect biodiversity

Thanks to the "Earth - Air - Water" project, promoted by the Trento Biodistretto Association with the scientific support of MUSE - Science Museum and the support of the City of Trento, 300 new nest boxes have been installed in the agricultural and urban environment of Trento. The aim is to safeguard  redstarts, flycatchers, wrynecks, titmice and hoopoes.

Approximately 300 nest boxes have been numbered, geo-referenced and placed within Trento's farmland on the instructions of MUSE ornithologists with the aim of encouraging nesting by birds that usually frequent these environments.

In fact, the presence of redstarts, flycatchers, wrynecks, titmice, hoopoes and other small birds is at risk due to the gradual disappearance of large isolated trees, hedges, dry stone walls and old buildings full of crevices and cracks.

Made of larch and spruce wood from Val di Fiemme, PEFC-FSC-certified for sustainable forest management, Beelieve nesting boxes are made in the carpentry workshop of Trento's Progetto 92 social cooperative.
