The Val di Gresta Fruit and Vegetable Consortium

The Gresta Valley is a strip of land located between Vallagarina and the Sarca Valley in the southern part of Trentino. The etymology of its name refers to the presence of mountain ridges on which the main towns of the area have developed over the years.

Its relative proximity to Lake Garda makes the climate particularly mild and less harsh in winter than in other areas of Trento, making it a particularly suitable area for growing vegetables and vegetables, above all potatoes, carrots, zucchini, and cabbage.

The history of the Val di Gresta Fruit and Vegetable Consortium began in 1969, when farmers in the area joined together in a cooperative. Since then, the Consortium has grown and today brings together about 100 members who each year deliver about 20,000 quintals of fruit and vegetables produced in the area following the method of integrated cultivation (20%) and I.C.E.A. certified organic cultivation (80%).

The main productions include radicchio, green beans, carrots, pumpkins, cabbage, potatoes, celeriac, cauliflower, ribs, onions, as well as processed products, pickles, compotes, syrups, and sauces.

Some of the Consortium's organic products, such as sauerkraut, celeriac, and carrots, bear the Trentino Marchio di Qualità (Seal of Quality).
