On the route of migratory birds
Discover a different autumn with us, follow the route of millions of migratory birds!A phenomenon to be discovered
In autumn, millions of birds leave their nesting sites for places farther south - more suitable for winter. A long, treacherous journey with numerous barriers. First among them: the Alps. Their articulated geography orients the migrants' flight, guiding them to where the crossing of mountain ranges is smoothest: the mountain passes. For several months, these migration hotspots welcome incredible numbers of birds, both in quantity and diversity of species: siskins, finches, bramblings, thrushes, robins, rulers, titmice...
The places of passage
Trentino, which is affected by the passage of the so-called “Italian-Hispanic route,” hosts several places where the phenomenon can be witnessed: the Brocon Pass (1,616 m) in Valsugana and the Borcola Pass (1,207 m) on the border with the province of Vicenza, the Bocca Vaiona (1. 695 m) on Mt. Bondone and that of Ardole on Mt. Baldo, Bocca di Caset (1,608 m) in Valle di Ledro, once home to the most famous birding in Trentino and today an important migration monitoring station of the MUSE - Science Museum.
