Visit the Stelvio National Park
The Pejo and Rabbi valleys are known for the therapeutic properties of their waters. They were loved by emperors and aristocrats of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. It is a land of glaciers and tumultuous waters, such as those of the Rabbies stream. Scattered farmsteads, alpine lakes and breathtaking trails provide endless thrills. And then there is a wildlife heritage that counts 250 species among vertebrates alone.
The path of milk and farms
A must-do experience. From the Visitor Center of the Rabbi Fonti Park starts an evocative trail, recreational and educational at the same time. It is the milk and farmsteaditrail, which winds its way from the mule track that leads to Piazzola di Rabbi, to the small hamlets of Maset and Serra. In Aret you can admire beautiful small farms. And at Somrabbi there is the old renovated dairy, which has become a thematic museum of the white gold of these mountains: milk. The trail is about 4.5 km, involves a slight elevation gain of 270 meters and can be walked by everyone in about two hours.
The taste of nature
The typical Casolèt, a raw-milk and soft cheese that is a Slow Food Presidium, can be tasted after a nice hike perhaps right on the milk trail in Val di Rabbi. Cheeses of various degrees of maturity, nostrani di malga, caciotta and the Trentingrana complete an assortment capable of tantalizing every palate.
