In bicicletta alla scoperta dei vini della Piana Rotaliana

Located between Trento and Bolzano, the Piana Rotaliana has always been characterized by its strong wine-growing vocation: it is indeed an expanse of vineyards embraced by a crown of mountains and crossed by streams and small villages rich in history and tradition.

From the peaks there is an overall view of the entire valley. Sun-drenched vineyards and orchards stretch from the hills to the bed of the Adige River and draw its landscape, while country villages are characterized by noble palaces and small churches. Through the unique vineyard landscapes, the Giro del Vino 50 (Wine Tour 50) leads to the discovery of the architectural beauty of the villages of the Plain and, by stopping at the many wineries in the area, the best food and wine production.

The route is ring-shaped, has a total length of 55 km and an elevation gain of 600 meters, from the valley floor of the Piana Rotaliana to the gentle Avisane Hills. It consists of two loops and is mainly ridden on bike paths, country lanes and secondary roads: one to the north, all flat and therefore of greater speed, and one to the south, with climbs and elevation gain but more scenic. 

Overall, it is a tour suitable for everyone and not very challenging, except for some small narrow and slightly steep sections.

Signs along the route mark places where you can stop and learn about the 50 wineries and distilleries on the plain, as well as the villages and the architectural and natural beauty of this piece of Trentino.
