Trentino's Blue Flag lakes
Mountains? Of course. But Trentino is also a land of lakes: there are no less than 297 of them. From the most famous Lake Garda, Lake of Levico and Lake Caldonazzo, to the many small alpine lakes scattered throughout the territory: precious pearls with crystal-clear waters to be discovered while exploring the valleys. Seven lakes host the 10 "Blue Flag" beaches of Trentino 2022.

Attention to the tourist, respect for the territory, sustainability. This is what Trentino's resorts awarded the Blue Flag in 2022 can guarantee. This year as many as seven lakes in Trentino can boast this important recognition, for a total of 10 beaches.
Valsugana is confirmed as one of the most awarded places with no less than five Blue Flags, namely Lake Levico (Levico Beach) and Lake Caldonazzo, which has four Blue Flag beaches: Lido/Spiaggetta, San Cristofaro al Lago, Alle Barche/Al Pescatore/Riviera beaches, Tenna Beach.
Next comes the Pinè Plateau with Lake Serraia (Lido Beach/Alberon/Bar Spiaggia) and Lake Piazze (Piazze location) and the Valle del Chiese, with Lake Roncone (Roncone Beach) and Lake Idro (Camarelle Harbor). Blue Flag also for Lake Lavarone, Lido Bertoldi/Lido Marzari, on the Alpe Cimbra.
Blue Flag, the criteria
The Blue Flag is an international award established in 1987 and awarded annually to municipalities and tourist destinations in 49 countries.
It is a voluntary eco-label awarded by the Fee (Foundation for Environmental Education) to those localities that meet criteria related to sustainable land management.
Thirty-two evaluation parameters are examined. Through them, the beaches with the best scores for bathing water quality, beach cleanliness, efficiency of sewage and waste management, bicycle paths, and services available to tourists (such as green areas and security personnel) are awarded.
