Beer and food pairings
A top-fermented dark beer with a brown color with ruby highlights, La Werra is a Brown Porter characterized by a light aroma of chocolate and coffee. Full and velvety on the palate, it is chocolate and coffee that are the main flavors brought by the cocoa and roasted cereals derived from the malt. The aftertaste is pleasantly sweet.

Notes of chocolate and coffee make La Werra the perfect pairing with smoked meats, roast beef and game. Try it accompanied with bacon and black bread. Its sweetness mitigates the sharp taste of smoked fish and enhances the delicacy of oyster. Opt for sweet and creamy cheeses. Werra is at its best with chocolate-based desserts, such as a fondant cupcake with a warm, soft heart.
The territory
On a long journey home, a shepherd and his flock found themselves at the edge of a ravine, unable to continue without risking their lives, as well as turning back. In desperation, the shepherd appealed to the saints in heaven, but received an answer from the underworld. An ogre emerged and heard the young man's desperate plea, begging him to make passage possible for him and his flock. The ogre agreed, on the condition that the shepherd give him what he held most dear: his soul. The young man had to accept the monster's proposal. A massive stone bridge joined the steep ends of the ravine, creating a passageway that saved the life of the shepherd and his flock. Returning to his fold and securing the sheep, the wandering shepherd abandoned the valley and was never heard from again...
In a very narrow gorge above the village of Ospedaletto stands the Ponte dell'Orco, a spectacular work of nature that is difficult to describe in words. Among the largest natural rock bridges in Italy, this rock arch measures over seventy meters in length and four and a half meters in width, with a height of fifty meters above the ground. Its origins are attributed to the collapse of the vault of a deep "covolon," a cave open to the outside world, due to karst phenomena that affected the isolated mass of Mount Lefre. The charm and grandeur of this natural architecture is such that it has generated the legend of the shepherd boy.
