The territory
Tenna hill rises between Caldonazzo and Levico lakes-the bodies of water of the Valsugana region-offering a privileged and panoramic viewpoint. Its location proved to be strategically relevant in the past, which is why the Tenna fort was built there between 1880 and 1882, not far from the Colle delle Benne fort near Levico Terme. The location of the fort favored control over access to the Monterovere road, which led to the fortifications located on the plateau of Vezzena and Lavarone. The strong military significance attributed to the hill and its strategic position of dominance over the valley is mitigated by the presence of the nearby and much older church of San Valentino, whose construction is traced back to the year 1259. Erected on the ridge of the hill, not far from the ruins of Castel Brenta and along the ancient Roman road Claudia Augusta Altinate, it was considered a sanctuary and pilgrimage destination, as well as a splendid vantage point for the lakes and the valley.
