Rovereto and Vallagarina
Vallagarina is the southern gateway to Trento. Small villages, castles and an immense garden of vineyards offer a complete experience to those seeking a vacation of genuine flavors, culture and nature. The valley landscape characterized by unmistakable hills is made harmonious and orderly by the work and enthusiasm of hundreds of winemakers, for whom caring for the land is a reason for living as well as a passionate job.

Typical products
Marzemino is the symbol of the area, a native gentle red wine whose organoleptic qualities were even extolled by Mozart in his Don Giovanni: «Pour the wine, some excellent Marzemino!» The best variety is grown in the areas between Isera and Volano, which represent the PDO (Protected Designation of Origin) area.
Enantio, also known as “jagged leaf Lambrusco,” also comes from this area. This is a ruby-red, dry and fresh wine, the arbors of which are grown mainly around the village of Avio and in the southern part of the valley.
And Müller Thurgau is also grown here, in the high hill area of Savignano, above Pomarolo, in the right Adige. Then let's not forget Trentodoc, which with its bubbles and fresh taste is suitable for a toast with friends.
More than 40 percent of all Trentino's wines are produced in Vallagarina, and not only that: here tourists can also taste the cheeses produced in the mountain pastures on the Brentonico Plateau and by the Sabbionara d'Avio dairy (for example, affogato, a cheese made from raw milk, soaked in Enantio wine for about twenty days), horse meat, chestnuts from Castione, and organic vegetables from Val di Gresta, grown with passion in terraced vegetable gardens.

History and culture
Vallagarina is a land of union between northern and southern Europe, and throughout history it has been characterized by a distinct cultural vibrancy. Even today, the city of Rovereto, where Fortunato Depero lived, is considered the “little Athens of Trentino.” The historic town centers tell of past characters, invasions and battles, while the mountains bear the signs of the Great War among forts, tunnels and trenches.
