In Val di Cembra, the protagonist is the purifying bonfire : on Shrove Tuesday, a pine tree is “baptized” and burned amidst Ave Marias , music and dancing , as a symbol of rebirth . In Palù del Fersina , in the Valle dei Mòcheni , Carnival recalls sowing and the good omen for spring , with the passing of the old man and old woman and a typical dessert shared.
