Bondone, the balcony of the Churches

To discover Bondone, the best thing to do is to wander through the alleys, stairways and small squares of the little village, stopping to appreciate the integrity of the urban center, the quaintness of the houses packed in, the sound of one's own footsteps, chatting with the residents one meets, proud of their quiet quality of life. Many buildings are frescoed: evidence of the devotion of past centuries. From the past also comes the tradition of charcoal burners, commemorated by a monument in the village. The Church of the Nativity dates back to the 1300s and is well worth a visit, as is Castle San Giovanni, a fortified bulwark defending the entrance to the Valle del Chiese, perched on a spectacular spur overhanging the plain below.
