Bats are among the animal orders most sensitive to environmental changes. In Europe, all species are considered, to varying degrees, at risk of extinction. There are several reasons for their decline: the use of pesticides in agriculture, light pollution, unjustified persecution, and, last but not least, changes to building structures, resulting in the disappearance of suitable roost sites.
Made of PEFC-certified fir with a metal roof, it is designed to house five different bat species. The bat box increases the availability of shelter for these small mammals, promoting their conservation and their valuable service in controlling insects harmful to humans, such as mosquitoes.
